If you are saved, this is something that should be done, and something you should want to do. Do you have to go to church every Sunday? I think it should definitely be a priority but I do think it is possible on those days where it can't be helped you are ok?
There are many excuses for not going to church on Sunday. I am too tired, it's my only day to sleep in, there's a good football game on, I can worship at home (every sunday?), I've got to much to do, it's too early, etc etc. The list could go on. I've used a few of those in my day. What if God showed up in church this Sunday and you weren't there. Then he came knocking on your door that afternoon wondering where you were would you use those excuses? Would you really tell God sorry the game was on? Would you be able to tell God that you worshipped him at home? Would you be really able to tell God that sorry I wanted to sleep in? What if God did that while we were praying? Sorry I can keep watch over your girls today I want to sleep in!
God is in church every Sunday! Why aren't you?
For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. Mathew 18:20
That needs its own paragraph. Read that verse again! Now think about it, really think about. God says where two or more are gathered in my name, THERE AM I IN THE MIDST OF THEM. wow! I think I really just heard that verse for the first time tonight! Thank you Jesus! I think I have a new level of accountability to go to church now. Isn't amazing how you can read something over and over but it will really click one day?
If that isn't reason enough how about because Jesus did. 16 So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. Luke 4 :16
We often hear and use What would Jesus do? Well here's your sign!
I look forward to church, I love going and hate to miss it. I love praising God and thanking Jesus for what has been done for me, especially when I don't deserve it. The fellowship is so great to meet with other believer's and to see so many people worshiping is truelly powerful. "And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins," (Heb. 10:24-26).
Going to church builds us up! It helps equip us for the week ahead. Any time you are in the word or hearing the word is a good time! "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" (Rom. 10:17). We should take every opportunity to receive ministry and hear God's word!
It's an expression of our love for God! It's an outside expression for what's going on on the inside!
Church is where we can gather with other believer's to give God the glory, honor, and praise He deserves.
God's calling on you right now and asking you "are you going to come be with me this Sunday?"! Believe it...it's no mistake you are reading this right now. What are you gonna tell him?
Are you gonna listen to the devil's lies that you don't need it, he'll tell you you really deserve that time to sleep in, it's just one Sunday and one football game (but what will happen next sunday), or everyone will look down on me. I think the biggest lie of all that the devil tells is that all those people are hypocrites, they are there on Sunday but do whatever they want the rest of the week. I am sure there are people like that, but there are more of God's people there than anything. Listen to God he will guide you on where you need to be.
1 Peter 5:8 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”
I thought I would close with a song. I love music it's in my soul. I hope you enjoy this one as much as I do!
As always, all the glory to God!
